The Hippos and Owls

3 years old by September 30th

It’s so fun to be three! We can’t wait to welcome your child into the Hippo and Owl Classes. It will be a year of play, adventure, learning, and full of friends. Our goal is always to help your child find a love of learning and to be excited to come to school each day.

Every morning begins with a circle time welcoming our friends, singing and dancing, and a focus on our “Weekly Wall” where we work through calendar, letters, numbers, shapes, patterns, and more. This circle time is a place for games, sharing ideas with friends, and preparing the children for the day as we play through our classroom centers.

Centers is where the adventure comes in! The dramatic play area may be turned into a dinosaur fossil dig or the writing area transformed into a mail room for letter sorting and writing. We may be building sky scrapers for super heroes to protect, or dissecting a pumpkin and counting seeds. We may be problem-solving how to build Lego boats that will actually float, or predicting and testing what will happen if we build a snowman and bring him inside. We will go on nature walks, launch rockets outside, have a snowball fight, splash in puddles, test the wind with bubbles, and so much more! Every day is an adventure in the 3s classrooms.

The learning doesn’t stop there. Every day we will have a Bible Time, learning new stories from the Bible in a way the children can relate to. Story time will help them foster a love of books and give us the chance to become authors and illustrators as well. We will learn about feelings and how to talk about them when we have a problem. We will learn to be good friends and to love each other like Jesus loves us. We will learn that God made each of us special and different and that is what makes every day fun and exciting. We can’t wait to learn together!
