Hi everyone! My name is Dasia Maravilla and I will be the lead teacher for the infants and toddlers class starting this September. Through my experience as an early childhood educator, I’ve come to understand that the way children learn successfully is a combination of variables. For children, learning not only involves what children learn, but how they learn, how they are taught, and who teaches them. The children’s success in learning also relies heavily on the relationship between the teacher and the students, and the support that the learning environment provides.
As a teacher, I believe that it is my job to offer support by building a relationship with the children, boosting self-esteem, and providing them with positive feedback and encouragement. Supporting children in this way makes all the difference in setting a good foundation for them to start their school journey. Some of my past experience includes working as an assistant at different child care programs in other churches, as well as being an assistant teacher here at Bethany.
Working at Bethany gave me the preparation and opportunity to work as an instructional assistant for Fairfax County Public Schools, where I worked as a Kindergarten IA and an ABA IA. I had the wonderful opportunity to work with children with enhanced autism. I love working with children of different ages, getting the opportunity to help them learn and grow. Some of the things I enjoy while I’m not teaching are cooking, reading and taking care of my family. I’m so excited to welcome you and your children to our preschool and the start of this school year!
Hi Butterfly Families! I am Jessica Morales and I will be the assistant in the Butterfly classroom. I am very excited to get started this Fall. I love teaching because, not only are the children learning, but I learn something from them every day, too. I love the creativity that teaching allows and just being with the children is fun. I have subbed at Bethany for a few years and my two older children, Sammy and Emma, have been attending school here, too--Leah, my youngest, will begin this Fall.
I am currently attending NOVA Community College for my Early Childhood Certification and I have attended many Early Childhood courses through Fairfax County this Summer. When I'm not at Bethany, I like to watch movies, dance, and spend time with my family!
